Fresh

Time has flown by while I have been in Toronto and although I haven't even gotten to anything on my list of things to see and do here it has still be quite the adventure. Our three day selection camp has turned into a week long event for the entire "squad" of over 20 people. We have five goalies and around 20 out players. There are several athletes of a very, very wide range of skill, fitness and experience. There are only 4 of us, one goalie included, with experience from the previous World Cup Qualifier and/or World Cup which were back in 2005 and 2007, respectively. The rest of the kids are either high school or University and although Ontario kids play a lot of indoor over here I think the speed and pace of the game is a whole new world for some of them. Many of the kids though are really eager to learn and have been very impressive to the coaches. I've enjoyed getting to know a whole new group of people in Ontario and the girls have a great attitude and are fun to play with.

On another note, Amanda and I have been staying with Katy-Jo (another goal keeper at the camp) and we have discovered all sorts of great places that are in and around her apartment. We are very close to all the shopping, a 30 minute walk from Dundas square and also near China Town, Spadina and lots of other things. Amanda is the health nut and has allergies or sensitivities to various foods but luckily we have found this awesome restaurant at the end of the block called Fresh and 10 minutes away is a Whole Foods.

This post was to blog about Fresh because I have been so impressed with their menu, their atmosphere and just their whole style. I have a few photos from our lunch before. The food is mostly vegan but there are so many options for gluten free things and dairy free options. It's pretty impressive. It's all really healthy, full of vegetables and surprisingly still very tasty! I'm a fan. Prices range from $9-12 like any place so it's a bit pricey especially if you go for one of their very tempting drinks - fruit smoothies, teas, vegetable juices, energy drinks, etc. The bill has stacked up for us quite a bit. We were discussing how Vancouver and Victoria would do so well with a place like this, especially near campus.

These dishes look all asian inspired and I suppose they are. There is a whole "bowl" section of different curries, thai sauces and tahini sauces and there is also a salad section, burger/wrap section... so it's pretty awesome to have all those choices.

You should check out their menu at: FRESH WEBSITE
