Battling it out

Today was so far the roughest day on my Delhi trip. To start things off last night I woke up in the middle of the night with major chills. I was so cold I layered up and an hour or two later woak up soaking wet in sweat. Fevers started to hit me all night and my roomie had to get the on-call doctor to get me some tylenol. Surprisingly, the tylenol warded off the fever by morning but the headaches and congestion continue even until now. It was a rough night because I didn't sleep much and I definitely didn't think I was going to be able to get out of bed, let alone play the game that was at 10:30am. I was taking it easy all morning and resorted to just conserving energy and battling through warm-up. It was not easy, let me tell you. I had a fever still before the game started but some how once it started things seemed to hold off but as soon as the game was done I was just so drained.

We fought hard against England holding them 1-1 at the half. They were surprisingly rattled by our physicality and our tactics. We scored early on a stroke and they tied it up on a corner. They had a bit more posession and a lot more fast breaks in the second half, partly due to fatigue but also ... they are in the top 5 in the world and just beat Germany for 3rd place at the World Cup. Two of the corners they scored on were controversial and sort of changed the game for us. We had a few opportunities as well that could have made all the difference in the momentum of the game.

Nonetheless, we proved that we can compete which was our main goal and now we need to get our 6 points by beating New Zealand and Wales. I believe Wales is up first!

Tune in to C-FAX this morning ... I'm going to be checking in with Al Ferraby around 8:15am :)

  1. Hi Ali!
Okay.. so the fever thing doesn't sound good.... but it sounds as if you are doing okay.
Too bad that you lost to England... but.... all good experience.
Just don't forget where you are....!
I will try to catch the C-FAX interview.... but don't know.
    Keep going.. keep fighting.
But don't forget that your body is obviously not healthy and you are in one hot spot.

Sorry if this sounds like "your Mother"talking!
