Canada 2 - Malaysia 3

Now that I have had an evening and morning to move past yesterday's game I think I can talk about it now. So, obviously the game didn't go nearly as planned. We lost 3-2 to Malaysia in the first of our MUST WIN games on our "pathway" to 5th place. There are so many reasons why we didn't win and none to take away from the fact that we were the better team. It's hard for Canadian teams in hocky to play lower ranked teams, I think, because we are never used to it. We are good at fighting from being down a goal, being the under-dog team or stealing points from higher ranked teams. Not that it is an excuse but we have to start thinking like winners and remembering the process that gets us there.

We had a shaky start and I take full credit for my actions or rather non-actions. It's tough because I always hope that nerves don't get the best of me but as they say I was squeezing my stick to hard and couldn't trap, pass or get my head up in time to get us out of the left side. It's hard when your team loses and you feel like you were a big part of it. Anyway, I can't dwell much more on it because I don't want the feeling I felt last night after the game to climb back. Real winners can dig themselves out of holes, no matter how deep.

On top of all that has been going on, I am getting sick. Thank goodness it is not Delhi Belly (diarrhea, etc) but just a cold. I have the ol' froggy throat, hoarse cough and congestion. It makes it hard beacuse I'm already usually coughing after running in the heat trying to catch my breathe and now I have to be more conscious about it all.

Well, I'm hoping tomorrow is the day where things turn around and although we take on England, favoured to win this tournament after their 3rd place finish at the World Cup, I think I'm ready to be my best against the best! Hopefully, this time if you tune into the game we will have smiles on our faces after the game!

We are going to watch the Men's team play South Africa in probably a really heated match in an hour or so. Can't wait for that. A few of the boys got Delhi Belly so we are hoping they will have enough on their bench to pull through!!

  1. Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa (ninjiom-hk.cwahi.net) may be another choice. i know alot of people use it, its also non alcoholic, though it's effectiveness is not as good as alcohol based cough medicine, but it's still good to use on not so serious scratchy throat.
