Shoulder Update
It has been 20 days since my surgery and it looks like recovery is going well. I was over in Vancouver to see my surgeon on Monday and get a follow up done. We had an appointment at 1:00pm at UBC hospital so, we caught the 9am ferry and headed to Banana Leaf to meet up with Jason for lunch. We got to the hospital 10 minutes early, like good patients, but should have known much better that hospitals and doctors don't run on time. We waited, and waited, and waited...
Apparently, the doctor was in surgery so we (myself and the 1:15, 1:30 appointments) were all being seen in between surgeries. Odd. Anyway, I didn't get seen until sometime after 2:30pm which is always hard because we were trying to catch a 5:00pm ferry. That changed our day. Finally when I did get to see the doctor he tested the motion and checked how far I could raise my arm in a few directions. He looked at the photos and showed me what was what and showed me "the giant flap" that also got anchored. Everything looked good and most importantly, there was no stiffness. The awkward sling I am in is just a security blanket but I have to wear it for another month. I'll re-visit the surgeon on February 21st and hopefully be out of the sling after that!
Leo Update
Leo is doing really well. He is still in his cone which makes it hard to leave him at home. Tomorrow he will go to the vet so we hope that he will get some of his last stitches out. He still has a "hole" on the side of him that we are waiting to seal up so that we can take off his stupid cone. He is in great spirits though and very hyper, as usual. He is walking and running more but it's all very controlled. He is eager to get back to the park to play with all his doggie pals..
Thank Yous
A big thank you to everyone who donated online to the CAN FUND in my honour. It turned out to be a great idea to use my birthday as a motive to help generate some money for CanFund. I raised about $785.00 which is way more than I expected. So, Thank you and remember you can still donate up until January 31st, 2011.
A big thank you to all my family, friends and supporters:
