No green beer for me... but Happy St. Paddy's Day!

Not only is it St. Patrick's day today but it also cousin Justine's birthday!! How could I ever forget. I brought her back to the good old days with some nostalgic quotes of our childhood that for our own sakes I won't share on here. Anyway, I texted her early on to wish her a happy birthday and remember how we always used to celebrate her birthday together and now we have grown so far apart. Oh well, we're related so we see each other by default throughout the year.... ha.

I met up with Kristen this morning to go for brunch at Joe's Grill and I had an awesome corn beef hash with tea :) That really made my day. Following that I FINALLY found some red spandex at American Apparel. Apparently, at FIH tournaments we have to have the same colour everything on as our uniform so red skirt - red spandex.... IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND! Found them finally at AA. I was very excited! We bussed down to the Scotia bank theatre to see ALICE IN WONDERLAND!!

My Review:
The story line is definitely similar but a bit different. Alice goes to Wonderland at age 19 after following a curious looking rabbit. First of all, I had no idea but apparently the place is actually called "Underland" and she mistakenly called it Wonderland when she was there at a young age. My take on the characters?
-Alice : looks identical to a young Gwyneth Paltrow and is super pasty looking at the beginning but really comes to life as the movie progresses
-Hatter: Johnny Depp? What else is there to say! his eyes are creepy but he does a really good job. He plays crazy people really well, I must say. At one point though he is supposed to have a scottish accent and I swear a little Pirates of the Caribbean came out in him.
-Queen of Hearts: WOW ... Bellatrix Lestrange turned crazy queen. AWESOME. I saw some behind the scenes in the filming make her look super short with a massive head. This is contrary to previous, typical Queen of heart's where she is normally really fat with a small head. Anyway... it was well done and she was really funny. Really came to life in the 3D.
-White Queen: talk about flaky. Anne Hathway looks like she's half dead with black lipstick and floats around a little twitty-like but none the less i guess she plays the part. I dont' really remember a white queen in the story line but I'm really kind of indifferent about the significance of this character
-Chessire cat : unreal. they really caught this character well. all animated but the "evaporation" skills were fantastic.... really awesome in 3D. The most animated of all characters and really cheeky like he should be
-Blue caterpillar: sooooo weird hearing Snape (Alan Rickman)'s voice come out of a blue caterpillar and his role was pretty insignificant but nice of him to make an appearance i suppose

All the other cartooned animals were quite funny like the mad hatter rabbit who carries a ladel and throws things around. Also, the Queen's "Champion" is called a jabbawockee which totally throws me off because of ABDC's jabbawockeez. Anyway, all in all it was a VERY entertaining movie. Just fun to watch and Johnny Depp is a guaranteed laugh :) Good on Disney. PS. TOY STORY 3 is coming in 3D...looks awesome... so does IRON MAN 2! Both highly recommended after watching the trailers today.

Following that, we did a bit of shopping downtown and then headed back because I had to meet Azelia for a work-out. We did our bike work out and then some core and then drove out to that awesome Shanghai restaurant in Richmond. Not only were we terrified at our sole venture to a chinese restaurant because of our lack of speaking skills (my serious lack of) but just in general we knew it was going to be awkward.

Right away, first question... the guy knew we were not the hard core chinese type. AWKward... The guy took our order. We got through that part. Phew. BUT... then literally the guy took our order and before he could have even got to the kitchen some guy comes by with a bowl of what looks like won ton soup. So, being retarded I guess we just started eating - kind of confused that it came so fast not sure if it was free or what. The waitors start freaking out and come back and tell us its a mistake and take it away but we each had a bowl already. haha. Then the rest of our food comes and it is amazing... So proud we went ourselves and got a good chinese meal (and dessert) before leaving for San Diego.

Now, it's off to bed and we get one more day close to leaving for San Diego. The plan is to watch game tapes of Belgium, France and Korea tomorrow as well as more APC practice in the morning!! With 2 practices cancelled.... we get a bit of rest time so that will be nice :) I've been working hard on the cardio so I will keep that going but the hockey is put on a bit of hold to rest up for the big tourney :) can't wait!
