I was waiting at the airport today for about 30 minutes watching all the different people that were also waiting for someone special. There were toddlers, teenagers, older people and people in their 20's and 30's. It was almost an overwhelming emotional 30 minutes.
"Come stand over here so you can see Daddy come through" an old lady kept saying to her three grand kids. They were more interested in the arcade games at the back of the airport. Finally, this tall man came through the sliding glass doors and the distracted kids came screaming over. I don't know how he did it but he picked up each of the 3 kids that must have been no older than 8. He then kissed his mom and they were so excited to be leaving the airport altogether. Just watching kids reunite with their parents was so touching. I wish I had my camera to capture their faces when they saw him.
An older woman was sitting beside me waiting a little less than me. She was anxious and fidgeting non-stop. Finally her face lit up when this gentleman pushing a cart came through those sliding doors. She slowly walked over him as if to not show her built up anxiety. Nonetheless her heart poured open when they hugged and she wouldn't let go of his arm as they walked out the doors to the parking lot.
Old or young, the reunions seem to just overwhelm me. The kids were so cute and the older couples showing how much they love each other at that age is so touching. It was like watching that end scene in love actually.
I am totally envious that when I come home no one is ever waiting for me like that! Well, I picked up my dad but it was a good hug and walk to the car. Haha. I guess when I have my family eventually, I'll be one of those people in that movie ending.
