Adversity

We managed to put ourselves in quite the predicament in terms of qualifying for just the semi-finals. We have chosen the hard road but as one of our team mates said, "Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before you climb to the top." I am trying everything I can from speaking up a lot to just playing how I know how to play but indoor is such a team game that if we are not all on the same page things just don't click. Sure, we need to finish our opportunities but more than that we need to find a way to be creating more opportunities. Sport was created for this reason. It's like one big giant puzzle and the pieces can vary from every athlete's input and ability to the coaching decisions to the other team's tactics to what you ate for breakfast that morning.

Regardless of the variables, individually, each member of this team, coaches included, need to find a way to bring out the best in themselves. If there's one thing I have learned from the Vikes, it's that if you can bring it and do your part for the right reasons than magic can happen. I saw it happen. I was apart of it. So if the 17 and 18 year olds have the courage to be the one to make the change happen than, it's time for them to step up and do everything in their capability. As a "senior" player it is up to us to take charge, take risks and play the game of our lives every game.

It's a tough road but regardless of what happens, I want to leave Venezuela knowing that I, at least, did everything that I could do and I said everything I could say on and off the court. I hope that things go well and I am confident that we will still play for pride.....and our $5000.
