Reunited.

Apologies to any avid readers out there for my 5 day disappearance but there is a lot to update on so, time to get started. First off, I headed down to Seattle this past weekend. It was about time to travel somewhere that wasn't related to field hockey or involve shielding myself from the mosquitos. The border waits are still baffling to me because somehow it is always 1-2 hours going down to Seattle and what? No one ever wants to return to Canada? It took us 15 minutes to cross the border coming home and the border patrol always seem a little less scary! Take a look at some of the shots I got down there:

A little update from the Yoga front. Robyn, Katie and I went to another session on Monday and it was slightly reduced in heat (maybe 34-36 degrees). The session was called Flow Yoga and it kind of reminds me of slow motion dance where all the moves activate your core. There are a lot of new things I am being introduced to at yoga including the importance of breathing, your gaze, relaxation and your energy. It's quite the eye opening experience and on top of acclimatization I think this is really going to help our core stability, our breathing in situations where we are tired as well as our flexibility (which is really key!) To combat the massive amount of sweating I decided to equip myself with the right gear and went to the mecca of yoga accessories. Over time, without being even in yoga I have obviously accumulated the gear for it so here is what I already have and what I would suggest if you were going to take hot yoga:
lululemon athletica - The Mat-Travel
lululemon athletica - Skidless Towel
lululemon athletica - Run:Swiftly Racerback
lululemon athletica - Run:Speed Short

To continue in all my attempts to make money and not actually work a job... I seem to have stumbled along quite a few random things to help "pay the bills." The FHC office and the head of our sponsorship/fundraising and marketing team has contracted me for a few random and odd jobs. My "media skills" are paying off or else all my free time in playing around on the computer has finally started to pay off. We are going to be fundraising for the Commonwealth Games (both the men and women) and so we will be starting our own websites similar to when you do a Run for the Cure or Race for some charity, they give you your own page but the template is the same for everyone. You can just track how much people are donating in your name online. So, I made a few mock creations of some banners for those sites... Take a look... Let me know if you like any of them:

In keeping with the making money theme, Cowichan Field Hockey has hired me to run two sessions before the ladies league begins. I haven't decided what the focus is but given the range in age, skill, strength and fitness I will probably focus on individual skills. If you are interested in attending both sessions will be at Cowichan Sportsplex (Ferreira Fields)  and the sessions will be on the following dates/times:

Session 1 : Tuesday, August 31 - 6:00 - 7:30pm
Session 2: Thursday, September 2 -  6:00 - 7:30pm

My last note is about the RONA MS Bike Tour. My cousin, Jason Lee, is participating in this fantastic bike ride to or in Kelowna in support of the MS Society. If you would like to donate to him, I would appreciate it. I know that I am always fundraising for myself but even I donated towards him and the event! It's for a great cause so if you would like to help him out...

  1. I like the second one, Ali, with the red and white. Good for Cowichan hockey for hiring you! I am sure that all the participants will learn some good stuff from you!
