What's all this business about monkeys?

I heard they were using monkeys to scare off the rodents? Thankfully I haven't seen any rodents but as I posted yesterday, I DID see some monkeys on leashes. Odd. I assume they must be doing their jobs! Things in the village are still just as hopping and I'm starting to get used to the heat, well... I'm adjusting slowly, probably more slowly than the rest. It's been pretty hot with the heat and humidity and I think our 20,000+ stadium acts like a funnel for the sunlight directly to the field!

We did get to play on the stadium turf today and the pitch is pretty good. The water canons are so good that you can't actually out run them because the sideline sprinklers actually cross each other. The good thing is the field is wet, the bad thing is that the water is all water we have to avoid getting into our mouths. That's always hard with us taking our mouthguards in and out and falling and wiping sweat, etc. Anyway, our first real match in the heat was against India today, just a test match. We had a good first half and not too bad second half. It seems the heat is quite a factor so we are hoping to keep raising our game with each day we train outside. Tomorrow we take on the Hockeyroos which should be interesting. I have never played them and have always been in awe of their program. Can't wait!

Things are starting to come more natural to us with "village life" and we are adjusting nicely. We have physio and massage treatments we can book in and all our Canadian officials have been really helpful to us! Everything we need is here and I'm really having an experience of a lifetime. Just think, the games haven't even started yet!! I wish I could post some photos of our experience so far but alas, I am on a PC and well... enough said.

More to come! :) Keep e-mailing, posting on facebook and showing your support!
