Progress Report

With the hopefully hot Chilean weather around the corner I thought it was necessary for me to get a "warmer" hair style! Not to mention, it has been over a year since I last cut my hair. As an athlete, you find that hair cuts are totally over-rated when you spend 90% of your day with your hair in a pony tail. Needless to say, this is the first time that I have gotten my hair cut and they didn't straighten it after. I've always cursed the rebellious waves in my hair but after my new hair cut experience, I'm really enjoying them! I have to give a big shout out to Crescendo for Hair in Victoria. The salon's owner, Mr. Chris Hallet, is the hair stylist for a family friend and he reached out to me and sponsored me this year! I thought I would patronize the salon and I had a great experience with one of the stylists named Angela! So, this may not be the best photo ever but it's the only one I took :

In other news, I made my first two-tiered red velvet cake last weekend. The red velvet cake recipe was taken from the Food Network website. It basically involves a tonne of red food colouring to mask the brown of the chocolate. Regardless, it was pretty fun to make. I went through 3 different icings and a whole bunch of trouble but it was really fun and in the end turned out pretty great. I had one piece and it tasted delicious. Lucky for me I enjoy the baking part more than the eating part. Now I just have to find me some good fondant, a sheeter and I'm pretty much the Cake Boss.

I took Leo on a 40minute run outside the other day - the first time I really have hit the pavement since before my surgery. It felt amazing to be out there running outside but I felt the after-math immediately when I got home. I guess the pavement has way less give than the treadmill does so, I'm back with just biking and more running for a little while. My left piriformis, glute and in particular, my IT band are so tight, sore and stiff that I can barely put weight on my left leg without pain. Luckily for me, a special care package arrived in the mail the NEXT day!

Dr. Chris Oswald and his team have developed a new product known as "Muscle Care". I had a sample sent to me to trial and it came at such a perfect time. It has a great menthol scent that is actually bareable unlike some of the other tigerbalm-like products. It comes in a roll on tube and goes on without much of a mess or liquid dribbling everywhere. So far, it looks pretty good and it's been helping reduce my pain to something more manageable. It's only been a few days so we'll have to see but if you are interested in checking it out here is the information:

What: Professional Therapy MuscleCare Extra-Stength Roll-on gel (3oz)
Where: Duane Reade Pharmacies, Rexall PharmaPlus, CVS.com, Amazon.com, Muscleandback.com
