Reflecting back on the past two weeks, I have actually completed and learned a lot! It has been an exhausting journey so far but coming into this not knowing what to expect and leaving with so much new knowledge and insight is such a great feeling. For starters, our journey with Dr. Sean Richardson, our sports psych, has been really useful. Although I didn't get to use his strategies in game/practice play I am aware of them and will start to incorporate them from now on. Not only did the final two games not go as well after he left but he has taught us a lot about imagery and relaxation which I think will be really helpful down the road.
As I write this, I am sitting in the "Star Alliance Lounge" in the Chile Airport. Somehow, the airline people messed up when I first checked in and mistook my "Prestige" status for AirCanada as Elite and gave me a lounge pass. That was pretty awesome because I love the benefits of the lounge! Anyway, as I enjoy, I figure it's good karma paying me back for the craziness during the past two weeks. I was working out almost every single day, doing the video taping and coding as well as trying to study for my Epigenetics exam.
Speaking of which, I wrote my final biochemistry exam (EVER) this morning at the hotel and am not looking back. I have to write a lab exam on Thursday which shouldn't be too hard and then I am completely finished my Undergraduate degree. It's such an exciting feeling to know that "the end" is near but just like I felt in high school, you want it to be over with but you know some other amount of uncertainty is just around the corner.
I am not sure what I want to do necessarily after school but I will continue with hockey more full-time now and then figure it out! It's been a great journey but I am ready to have this 7 year degree be over with. Convocation is on June 15th and YES I am planning on attending! I am not going to pass up the opportunity to walk across the stage with that corny little outfit because I never did it with high school graduation. We had to wear white dresses and hug the lady who gave us our diplomas - so not the same.
Anyway, we are on our way back and will be home on Tuesday afternoon. My dad has returned from China so it will be a full reunion with him, my mom and my puppy!! Can't wait!
