Last time that I was writing an entry only two days had past and it felt like 2 weeks. This time, it has been just over a week and I have done so much in that time. The team has played three games and in that time I have learned all the video and coding techniques. I was up on top of a 5-story parking garage of a hospital by myself trying to set-up and film the game. So far, each game has been at a different location so, we never know where we are going to be able to film from. It has to be somewhere up high and not blocked by shadows and trees. We've done the best we can so far and it seems to be working out.
Game 2 and 3 were the hardest because it was a fast turn-over afternoon to morning game. Anyway, today the girls had a practice in the morning and I went to the gym with my room mate, Gill, who is the Canadian umpire here. She is also from Victoria and I actually played my first year at UVic with her. It was great to have a bit of a sleep in and then get a good, long work-out in without being super rushed! We walked to the Manquehue club to have lunch and now we have the afternoon off with the exception of dinner at 7pm. It's nice because I am going to write this entry and then hit the "books" as they say. I have my BIOCHEM epigenetics exam coming up on the 11th or 12th. I am writing it down here in Chile so I guess I can pick what time I write it. EIther way I am far from prepared!!
So far, the team is sitting at a 1-1-1 record and I am itching to get out there to play! At two practices I was allowed to dribble around and hit and pass a bit within a pain-free range. It was really exciting because I think by the time Vienna comes, I'll be able to practice with the girls but maybe not do anything with full contact. Either way being involved in passing, hitting and running around on the field will be really nice.
Usually I am trying to take photos of so much and interview the girls and things but I have been so swamped with coding the games and getting game reports and highlight videos up on the websites that I haven't had time to take photos. The only photos I have really been taking are the ones of my awesome tech set-ups. I have maybe 2 photos of myself that prove I was actually in Chile but anyway check it out:
