Canada's last moment
It's the final day of the Champions Challenge II here in Vienna, Austria and a little bit of west coast flavour has this city. We woke up this morning and it was absolutely pouring rain with a lot of wind. We just got here to the pitch and the rain is still coming down. The field looks pretty puddled and the scaffold that we film from is very sketchy. We tried setting up a huge umbrella but I feel like it's going to blow away and take us and the scaffold with it. We've moved onto Plan B, moving to a different tower that is more secure and hiding behind trees to block the wind. We are not going to have any power nor will we be able to bring out the computers to code the game. It is going to be miserable out there! Sadly, Canada is in what they call the "toilet bowl game" and we are playing for NOT being in last (7/8th place) against Austria (who are ranked 30-something). NOT where we want to be nor where we should be but once again, another learning experience.

Venturing out:
On another note, yesterday we had the day off because the two semi-final games were taking place. Zee, Katie, Jess and I took the U2/U4 train to Schonbrunn Palace on the west side of the inner ring. It was the most breath taking place I've seen here, so far!

This palace is spectacular from the front but I think I've realized the best part of a palace in Europe is always the "backyard." In the back there was a beautiful garden and it was massive. There was a labryinth, an entire Imperial Zoo and then this hill (photo on the right) with this incredible looking gate at the top overlooking a beautifully carved fountain and the palace grounds. It was insane. I didn't even take that many pictures because only my eyes could truly take that moment in. No photo could replicate it.

Returning home, we were pretty relaxed for the afternoon as the team prepared for the Russia game. Today, I am filming in the morning and then after our debrief meeting at the hotel I am packing up my bags and making my way to the Westbahnholf train station in Vienna to make my way to a nearby city called Linz. A few nights in Linz and a day to check out Salzburg and then it's off to Italy - Venice, Naples, Sorrento, Amalfi and Rome! It should be a spectacular trip and let's hope the rain does not follow me there! I am not sure what the internet situation will be like but will keep you all posted!
