Every mistake is another lesson learned...

It's always tough to lose. Pressure was for sure on them because they were supposed to win. That in mind, I really thought we had it in us to upset Korea. They are a FAST, skilled team that play AS A TEAM very well! We defended well for the most part but you give them an inch, they take a mile. I'm at fault for the first two goals, I think. My check scored on a free play - granted a very good reverse stick shot. Also, I caused the short corner that they scored the first goal on, joy. Anyway, we can pin point people and blame but ultimately it's a team decision on how we play and how well we compete.

I've learned a lot in today's game, I think:
1. Give what they take you. Capitalize on the space, time or angle they give you.
2. Sometimes no speed is better than speed. #10... speedy little forward is so fast but she dead stopped at one point did a little shoulder dip and then sped off and that was more effective then any fancy skill work I've seen a forward do. Note to self: Keep feet moving.
3. When one goal down, don't hold your head low... pick it up, move forward and keep pushing hard.
4. Battling for position in the D, ie: "using my ASSets" gets me a green card :( which is 2 minutes off
5. 70 minutes? No Big deal. Don't do excess running. PLAY SMART not necessarily hard.
6. Communication is key. Doesn't matter what it is just say it.
7. Decisions need to be made no matter right or wrong, something needs to be initiated and then we fill from behind and our cover side.

Yeah, we are all disappointed but being realistic here, all I want to do is play hard for a medal. We can for sure come third and do it with hard work, focus and lots of Canadian Pride. That's the goal - and we gotta make it happen.

On another note, I was chosen for an interview on the FIH YouTube part of their website. Not sure how with it I was at the time but the link will be posted on YOU TUBE HERE.

Also, here are some of the game photos from the FIH site:
